In the face of huge international pressure it is believed that the Saudi government is preparing a formal statement confirming that the death of prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi was the result of an interrogation by Saudi operatives that went wrong.
The statement would mark a complete departure from the kingdom's party line, insisting that it had no knowledge of what happened to Khashoggi who visited the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2nd to collect paperwork that he needed to marry his fiancée.
